Christmas Eve - all through the house all the creatures were stirring even the mouse. You could not keep them down or even very quiet cuz all the stockings were hung up away from the furries.
With nothing to do and idle kid hands a mama must find a brand new plan. So on to the kitchen and mix up a batch of dough - sugar cookie to stamp and to mold. Two boys kept busy - one big and one small but both able to find joy in a rolled up cookie ball.
When what should I hear? A scream and a giggle! Three preteen girls all a'wiggle. I sprang into action with camera in hand to take some pictures of those girls - all in a band. Now into the kitchen they all ran to have some fun with frosting and sprinkles. Big smiles all around - some green and some blue - but fun was had by the whole family. That much is true.
Then into the living room for some movie fun. "The Santa Clause" is a Christmas favorite for all. But wait - there lies on the couches 8 furries so tame. So I whistled and shouted and called them by name:
Now Jake! Now Cordy!
Now Montana! Now Spike!
On Molly! On Buster!
On Harley! On Gracie!
To the top of the couch!
To the end of the room!
Now Dash Away! Dash Away!
Dash Away all!
Furries asleep all snug on the couch. Several kids spread about the room and Junior himself was no slouch. We watched the movie as darkness came and snow filled the world and made it look all the same. Waiting for St Nicholas to step in and leave those gifts for all the kids.
But look - they are all asleep except- Hark! I do hear little Nathan steps coming near! "Mama! Mama! Come quick! Come look! Santa has been here and left all kinds of presents!" I see no footsteps, but oh look over there - a trail of snow leading up into the air! Santa Claus had been here and definitely left all in good cheer!
Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!
